The Source of the Thames

Thames Head, near Kemble, is one of two sites that claim to be the source of the Thames. The other is Seven Springs, in the parish of Coberley, about three miles from Cheltenham.

Seven Springs is the source of the River Churn, which joins the Thames at Lechlade. Seven Springs is further from the confluence than Thames Head, and this is the justification for its claim.
